Well, I hate to rave about a film because, frankly, there's just so much good stuff on disk these days, but I'm afraid I'm going to do be blowing great loads of praise all over Michael Lucas' Dangerous Liaisons. Sure, Lucas is known for his unique brand of arrogance -- and in the bonus features of this film he turns his arrogance into a theatrical signature as kitschy as his signature horn-pout. Hooah to him for it. Sometimes it takes piercing arrogance to shake up a complacent business.

But I won't waste space ranting when there are so many beautiful fuck scenes and lightning rod hunks to talk about. First off, Dangerous Liaisons purports to have a plot. And it does, kind of. Fashion mogul Marcus Halpern (the sultry, rosy cheeked Lucas of course) wants to destroy his ex-lover Tom (the puddluscious Kent Larson) for breaking his heart. So Halpern decides to enlist the photographer who's been around every block in Dickdom, the New York fashion scene that is, Valentine Moore (Gus Mattox).

Moore's mission, should he choose to accept it, is to seduce Larson's so-buff boyfriend Sebastian (the ultra-breathtaking Wilfried Knight). Larson and Knight -- what a pair! And that's whether you like boy, bear, fur or fawn. When these two pile up, it's mounds of man-meat and butt muscle, work-out strength positions -- check Knight's squats and the ripple of hot haunches… Oh, back to our story. We're clearly told that Tom/Larson is the jealous type and that if someone else fucks Sebastian, he (Tom) would never forgive him (Sebastian). And so it is that the irresistible Mattox sets off on a mission to fell the favored fawn. In the meantime, a lot of other forbidden liaisoning is going on between various allegedly "monogamous" partners. Wicked, wicked men. Entangling alliances ensue.

Anyway, it's not all that important to remember who's fucking whom in this dicking-for-danger plotline. Just know that you're given enough context to make every sex scene smolder under the knowledge that the fucking is verboten. This really ramps up the prickly pubes quotient and makes the fuck scenes so loaded you won't know wank from watch. First off, after the plot set-up, Larson and Knight have a little conversation about faithfulness in love before their bare bods have congress of their own in the guys' upscale loft. Knowing what Mattox intends for Sebastian just twists the rod deeper in this steamy scene.

All over the bed while striking great muscle poses, Knight and Larson proceed to suck schlong, Kent's cut, Wilfried's uncut (have no doubt these are 2 very juicy schlongs). The boys are buff, Knight with his errant wisps of body hair and Larson with his ass-crack so clean-shaved it could enter a monastery, not to mention the cool grayish tones around his pucker. There's one shot -- when Kent, in his dressing robe, mounts Wilfried and we see Wilfried's hand ride the fluid, midnight-blue satin of Larson's robe up his beefcake thigh and over his round muscular ass, exposing an exquisitely smooth ass-spread under the satin -- which I would like to blow up, copy, and use for wallpaper. Like the fictitious Halpern who has bought all his "fabrics from Milan," Lucas knows the sensuality of the right materials.

Another thing that makes Dangerous Liaisons eminently watchable is that every sex scene has a slightly different flavor and chemistry, be it passionate and tender; rough and dominant; cool and controlled. But lest you think this flick is all about silks and story and style, it is not. The hard, holes-in-your face fuck-action is all there. Dangerous Liaisons features two 3-ways -- one juicy/steamy on the bed, one fast and raw over a drafting table. In the bed scene, punk-haired boy J., who cums with his head thrown back, gets one of the juiciest facials I've seen, followed by Knight kissing the cum away. And Michael Lucas' scene with Owen Hawk, when he literally rips the crotch out of Hawk's tight jeans to get at his cock, will have steam pouring from pores you don't know you have.

It's not just the authoritative manhandling or the verbal topping ("Is that my fucking hole, nobody else's?") that makes Hawk seem like a Real Doll in Lucas' hands, but in spite of Lucas' slow steamy style, he generates enough slapping, ramming, and squirming, to maim more than one condom. Of course the whole condom and lube discussion -- to show or not to show -- is a matter of personal taste, but personally, I like watching a guy deal with the nuisances of life while he's in the throws of a gut-busting hard-on. Shows what he's made of, other than being just another pretty pucker. Besides, there's something so butch about the way Larson throws off his condom after he's through with Wilfried Knight's hole… oh, my.

As Lucas' doting, somewhat invisible lover -- rather dressed down compared to the rest of the fashion princes in the story -- Bruce Beckham didn't catch my eye right away. But suddenly he gets with Gus Mattox (tsk, tsk) and he smokes on overload.

Mattox is a gem. Older than the rest, but somehow smoother, cooler, Mattox is at an advantage with a scripted story because dialogue sets loose his confident charm. Plus Gus makes great bed action. For starters, his cock jumps every time Beckham sucks a nipple or touches a soft spot. Oh, Daddy. Plus his bedroom talk -- telling Beck he has a beautiful hole as he spreads and stretches the clean-shaven rim. Not only can you tell Mattox is a pro who likes what he does, but this easy bedroom talk, which runs through most of the scenes, sweetens the fucking. It's one of little touches that put the Dangerous Liaisons DVD out above the usual fare.

Besides the two 3-ways, Dangerous Liaisons features a freaky surprise ending, and a hot, dripping watersports (bonus) scene in which Lucas drains the vein on Larson's beard gristle while Larson licks, lies back, and spreads lips wide for it. This scene is most seductive. For someone new to water sports, it has the power to draw in even the most squeamish. It starts out almost too "pretty" for a hard core water sportsman.

Lucas' measured streamlets, Larson's pretty eyes, those picturesque droplets bouncing off Larson's upper lip, sparkling in the pale light, all make me feel like I'm beside some delicate garden fountain with my easel. But somehow it's mesmerizing. I couldn't fast-forward. And by the time Larson's face is dripping with piss and the lighting changes so you can clearly see that the shower is golden, and Larson's raking it out of his eyes while its overrunning his mouth and Lucas keeps at him to take more and more, the scene has gotten me, in the nads just where it wants me.

I can't help mentioning one more artsy post-coital snapshot, because of its Magnum-Photo-level composition. It's a scene just after a certain someone (I'll not be a plot-spoiler) has been unfaithful, and that someone is kneeling on the bed he's just done all manner of lewd three-way unfaithfulness in. The bed, we learn later (in bonus interviews with cheeky Hedda Lettuce) is not only seedy but uncomfortable. Yet, Lucas has used lighting and color to override reality and create a moment of beauty. A sunset gold light forms rays across the bronzy-grays of the bed and its iron bar header and footer. Behind the man kneeling, naked, his head hung down, a tarnished gold picture frame tilts on the wall. Empty. The statuesque nude moves, on knees, slowly across the bed, stretches out his legs, hangs them over the side, dejected, and when he looks up, a photo flash freezes his brooding expression. It's one of those artistic moments that can almost make you forget your raging hard-on -- well actually, you've already relieved the hard-on at least once by this point.

There's just one thing I must complain about in this DVD. After all the dramatic build-up, all the scheming and underhandedness to stir up jealous rages, and the callous way the lovers' "indiscretions" are thrown in their cuckolds' faces, I was anticipating -- with hand on dick -- some furnace-hot, melt-down-BTUs scene that starts out with thrashing, angry, jealous sex, then shifts into fast, furious, wall-thumping, bed-breaking make-up sex, and maybe even melts with exhaustion into some liquid lovemaking. This highly anticipated sex scene does not happen. And I had mental blueballs over it. (I should know enough to keep my upper head out of my lower head's food trough.) I only mention it because I'm sure that if you're forewarned, you'll be forearmed against any disappointment with this film. Because the surprise ending is actually a lot of fun. Yeah, Lucas has hyped this DVD to the hilt. But you know what? It's all it's cracked up to be -- plus alive with emotion, nuance, context, style, and some of the most well-rounded sex on film.
