This amateur-style DVD is unusual in that it features transmen, that is, female-to-male (FtM) transsexuals, interacting with biological gay men. “We believe men are hot,” says the company, Trannywood pictures. “After all, we are men who have sex with men.”

Up until now, FtMs in any sort of porn have been rarer than hen’s teeth. The notable exception is Buck Angel, appointed 2007's Transsexual Performer of the Year by AVN. Angel's recent releases, however, are aimed at a straight audience (his just-released Buckback Mountain being an exception). This is essentially the first time ever “bio guys” and transmen have been showcased having sex together. It’s not just a curiosity, though ‒ the sex here is both creative and steamy. Plus, you might just learn something about trans bodies. One striking thing about this disc is the number of toys on display ‒ often in the hands of the bio guys, as it happens. A nice change from the usual suck’n’fuck, it must be said. The trans men featured here are in various stages of their transition, but tend to the lean and wiry end of things; the bio guys, on the other hand, are exclusively bears.
The first scene starts with a close-up of a note on the wall:

“Dear Bears and Sirs,

I’m being initiated into my cub fraternity, and I need as many bear cocks as possible tonight. Please keep the blindfold on, since it’s suppose [sic] to be anonymous sex. Thanks!”

Cut to the “victim,” blindfolded and cuffed, being bent over a bench in the playroom. Along comes Ian Sparks, a bespectacled bear with a fauxhawk, nose ring, and chain collar. He lubes up his bottom boy and mounts up behind.

If you’re used to watching over-amped mainstream porno, the sex that follows will seem a little subdued. There are also no hardcore genital close-ups in this segment. In fact, things get a little dull.
A little dirty talk might have helped. After a while (and sans cumshot), Sparks says he’s going to go “get some backup.” Instead, he straps a dildo over his own junk and goes in for a second round of ass-pounding. Clever! Sparks ends the scene by flipping the initiate onto his back and choosing the bonus hole for the finale. Still no cumshot, but an affectionate kiss at the end.

The second scene pairs two transguys by the name of Ian Foxe and Dex Hardlove together. One of them is an experienced bathgoer, the other is shy. Both are slim, punky, and heavily tattooed. Their scene is a short one, with a rough handjob culminating in Foxe showing off his tackle ‒ a pierced, testosterone-swollen “little guy.”

Further explorations are interrupted, however, by the arrival of Sparks into the room. He declares, “I need someone to fuck my ass!” That’s the kind of line that only works in pornos. Nonetheless, Hardlove eagerly volunteers to do the honors. He drops his towel to reveal a truly impressive strap-on. Hardlove, it turns out, has a filthy mouth, and this scene is quite a bit more lively than the first two as a result. The addition of some hardcore angles probably helps as well. Hardlove plows Sparks in the sling until the bearish bottom comes on his own belly. The chemistry is palpable.

Back in the locker room, shy Foxe finally gets to finish his tryst with Hardlove. This scene features some oral action and a dental dam, plus another hot, rough hand fuck.

Sparks still hasn’t had enough, it seems, and soon we see him again, his cock and balls bound up in a lovely leather harness. CJ Cockburn starts to suck his dick just as the slim, boyish Mark van Helsing slips in to watch. Van Helsing is covered in tattoos and sports a shaved scalp, which he likes to rub on Sparks’ belly, once he’s finally invited to play alon. He also mauls the man’s nipples before sitting back again to jerk off whatever he’s hiding in the jock strap he’s wearing.

In the last scene, we find Van Helsing taking a shower. Why is he showering in his jock strap? Don’t ask. In comes Marlo Davis, a burly black man with shaved head, piercings, and a beard. He flashes a predatory smile, and soon has his little bottom boy bent over the sink, fingers up his ass. The big and little, black and white contrast of these two bodies is compelling. Davis finally asks, “are you ready for some cock now?” and whips out a large dildo to plug van Helsing’s eager ass. He soon switches to an even bigger toy, and van Helsing is left grunting in pleasure. Both guys have expressive faces, put to good effect. The scene fades out as a grateful bottom grabs Davis for a deep, fevered kiss.

Cubbyholes was filmed on location at the famous Eros bathhouse in San Francisco, a place, by the way, well-known for being trans-inclusive. So if you ever want to meet the stars of this disc in person, you know where to go.

The DVD package is rounded out with a very informative pamphlet on safe sex for trans guys, and a solid set of bonus materials including a hilarious session with a blow-up sheep.
