 Welcome to OP! Best way to get attention is to post blogs! and get noticed! 12 years ago I found my guy in here so the place works. You just have to give it a chance and let them know what you're looking for and what you have to offer. A few pictures helps too!

 I'm a complete bottom same as you. I love this site for writing and reading, but it's not a great place to meet anyone. There are better sites for hooking up and actually meeting. Of course nothing beats meeting someone in person. Good luck!
