Check Your Batteries Day We all know that some days are silly or light-hearted, but there are others which serve an important purpose. Check Your Batteries Day is definitely highly recommended because it could save your life. Created raise awareness of the importance of testing and having working batteries in household appliances like smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. These devices help to warn us of a potentially life threatening situation, giving us vital time to get yourself, your family, loved ones, and pets to safety. However, it’s important they are tested (usually you can do this by pushing a button) regularly to ensure they’re working correctly. Check Your Batteries Day is a reminder to do just that. While you’re in the routine of checking, it’s a good idea to check other household appliances, such as remote controls, toys, clocks and other electrical items. If you don’t have spare batteries on hand, consider buying some. Also... don't forget tonight Daylight Savings Time begins. |

Sorry to hear you are getting another winter storm. Finally, it is warming up here. Got to a blistering 30F today. No melting, but it sure felt good after months in the deep freeze. I am really tired after doing plumbing and electrical work all day, but you reminded me I have to change clocks before going to bed.

We are kind of survivalist and keep plenty of things stocked up food, water. ammo, dog food, kerosene for a heater and lamp oil for oil lamps, candles, firewood and batteries. We also have a portable emergency generator.
