Hot air balloons gone ...Air races happening now
In Reno and the area does have lots of events going on during weekends. This last weekend we had the Air Balloon Races. Now to me watching air balloons race is about as entertaining as watching paint dry or grass grow. The people that attend this event do not spend too much in the resort/hotel/ casinos cuz they do not gamble drink or party in the bars and lounges. They are very early morning people. They do rent rooms and eat some meals in the restaurants but just are not quite like a typical person that comes to Reno to gamble, party and visit the near by legal brothels.
One night my relief floor manager called in sick so I had to work a double shift and on into graveyard which meant that I would be going home right after the sun came up. As I got to my car in the parking lot I looked up and saw all the balloons in the air at the start of the race and they were coming my direction. There must have been at least 20 or more and with the sun shinning on them and with the beautiful colors on them it was spectacular site. I stood outside my car and watched them until some of were passing over my head. They are over with and gone now.

This weekend in Reno we have The National Air Races. These airplane races do have classifications but the top and what seems to be the American P-51 Mustangs which is probably the most notable WW2 airplane cuz of the way it changed the war's air superiority. Spectators have been killed and injured at these races when mishaps and crashes occurred. This year the Air Force Thunderbird's are putting on a demonstration in their F Fighting Falcons In past years there also have been the Navy Blue Angels.

 Great pictures Julie. I have never been to a balloon festival or air show, but I love to see the pictures or videos.

 i have never seen a hot air balloon race. maybe some day i will. i have seen lots of the types of air planes you posted. thanks for posting these photo. i have work many of double shifts over the years. now that i am retired no more punching the clock. if i would even go to Reno i would not gamble just to see the sights is all. you take care.
