Being stuck in the middle of Montana is not being stuck in cowboy heaven (as much as one would wish), and being a bear is not exactly the idol of those here as much as one could wish either. The joy of getting out of here is to experience the world of bears and their admirers that doesn't exist here. The joy of returning to the middle of Montana is that this is home, it's georgous, and one can always plan the next trip out or perhaps even have visiters.
For instance, in early March 2007 I attended a seminar near Wash, DC (Tyson's Corner, VA) .. and then flew to Santigo, Chile to visit dear friends for 10 days. There's nothing like a bunch of Santiago Osos to brighten up one's day (or night for that matter). Next trip was the weekend after Mother's Day -- Bears in Paradise weekend in St. Petersburg, FL 2007. That was a great run and got to see many good friends from all over the country! Thinking about hibearnation in St. Louis in Nov. Dunno yet.
