| OK Guys,Here is the new update,just home from the Dr's. |
Aug 25, 2008 2:30 pm Mood: happy, 518 Views | Well today I finally had my one month checkup(one week late, due to dr cancelation)The nurse took me back and did the body composition workup and then into Dr.Trotters office for the analysis.Since my last visit I have lost 18lbs of fat,8lbs of water, and 3lbs of muscle. On the scale it only show a net loss of 12lbs.So that is a total of 26lbs since surgery. The Dr explained I am doing great I just need to start eating some extra protein and excercising at least one half our a day,six days per week.I feel great and am glad that I can start eating some real food now,he said for the main part of it I should anything that walks, swims,or flys, then fill around the edges with vegetables. His main message was to make sure and not eat unnecessary calories and to watch out for the natural sugars in fruit.I was a bit disapointed that it only showed 12more lbs,but he was pleased and he knows more about it than I do.I am wearing jeans that have'nt seen my ass in 6-7years and shirts that have'nt been out of the closet in so long that they are now coming back into style.I have been out and about 4 days in a row and that is a major thing.Thats more than I had been out in the entire month previous.I can now wear my lace up roper boots that I have'nt gotten on in several years due to the size of my lower legs and now I can.So thank you guys for the continued support.I'll get there. And as many of you have said and my Dr.too.I did'nt put it all on in a month or two and I should'nt expect to lose it that quickly either. Love and Huggs to all. Ricky

| Just to prove I can still cook and bake. |
Aug 14, 2008 11:56 am Mood: happy, 855 Views | Here are a couple good recipes for some of the bounty from your gardens,The bread is really good for brunch and I use the fresh dill from my garden. The pickle recipe was given to me by a old german friend of mine,he is 87yrs old and still gardens and farms.canning and preserving all his own produce. Cottage cheese Dilly bread 2pks dry yeast 1\2cup warm water 2 tsp sugar. dissolve yeast in water, stir in sugar and set aside.
2cups cottage cheese, warmed 1tsp baking powder 3tbs dill seed or weed 2tsp salt 1tbs minced onion 2tbs sugar 2eggs 4 1\2 cups flour Combine cottage cheese, onion, dill, baking powder salt,2tbs sugar and eggs. Add to first mixture-gradually mix in flour, dough will be really soft. Place in greased bowl, turning to grease top. cover and let rise in a warm place until double. Punch down, shape into two loaves, let rise until double. bake @350 for 23-30minutes.
Sweet dill refrigerator pickles. 10-15lbs of cukes 2med or 1 lg sweet onion (bell and or hot peppers)opt. Cut cukes into 1\4 slices and divide onion into rings,(cut peppers into strips if using)Salt the vegis well and let them stand for about 1 hour. While waiting for the vegis, make the brine. 1cup water 1\2 teas cloves 4cups vinegar 2teas tumeric 4cups sugar 1teas celery seed 1tab mustard seed 3-4 heads of dill 10-12 cloves garlic(I put the garlic with the vegis to salt) Bring brine to a boil, rinse the vegetables and add them to the brine, return to the boil.Remove from heat and pack into sterile gallon jar.Put on the lid and refrigerate,I let them set at least a week before tasting. Hope that you all enjoy, Huggs Ricky

| Pets and Heartbreak, |
Aug 11, 2008 12:42 pm Mood: sad, 1141 Views | | My grandma once told me "Honey,if you have animals you're gonna have heartbreak" How true that statement is.Over the years I have lost some great pets,Dogs, cats, and a couple of horses. Many of you know that about a month ago I lost my littel Tinker she was a purebred miniature dauschund.I had her since she was weaned, she was the daughter of my old weiner dog that I got when my first love Rick died and left him to me.Tinker was about thirteen and had developed a cancer as well as kidney stones. In April I adopted Lucy,a miniature dauschund\chihuahua cross,(I swear it was short for lucifer and not lucille)She was such a sweet hearted girl with a wild streak of orneriness and that who me look when she was doing something she should'nt.Yesterday morning I let Lucy out for the morning pee,she came back in for her breakfast and morning lovin, after that she wanted back out. That was the last time I saw her.I have searched everwhere and put out calls to all the neighbors.I have a feeling all the calls and searching are a futile venture.I believe that either the damn coyotes or the resident bobcat killed and took her.It breaks my heart to think of that cruel ending for a girl thats biggest pain in life ws an occasional swat with the flyswatter. Her not knowing what was happening and me not being there to help her.I had the windows open,so whatever got her did it by surprise and in a way that whe could'nt make a sound or I would have heard. There will now be no mercy on any carnivorous animal that crosses my place,if I see so much as a squirrel with big teeth I'll shoot its ass off.I spent most of last nite getting up and down checking to see if she was outside waiting for me.I just pray that it was fast and painless and not a game for those animals. Heartbroke and sick. Ricky

| OK,OK, heres the update,such as it is. |
Jul 31, 2008 9:23 pm Mood: optimistic, 1233 Views | | Not to much to report except that these imcisions are itching like a bitch and I seem to be losing weight.I am starting to notice the way my belly is shaped differently and my face is starting to thin out a bit.My family says that they can see it.Probably harder to see on myself.Still no hunger but am starting to have cravings for some things. Broasted Chicken,OMG! I've dreamt about it.I finally had mom pick me one up at the store 3 days ago and just finished it tonite.I took little tiny bites and chewed it super well and washed it down with plenty of water.Did'nt seem to hang up at all,but did cause a bit of the heartburn. The lack of crunch is starting to bother me,I chew sugar free gum almost constantly but that does'nt relieve the want for something crunchy.I stayed away from the town festivities last weekend as well as a good friends house party.Did'nt want the temptation of the alcohol and all the good food.I've been walking quite a bit and am starting to do easy exercises.I've been cleaning and sorting thru things to get rid of.I have hundreds of books that I want to donate or take to the book trader. It gives me something to do and keeps me busy.My garden is doing well now that I found the potion to keep the deer out, last nite it did get down into the 30s and its seems to be getting cold again tonite. So it will most likely freeze everything before I can get any harvest. My last freeze was the 10th of July.Only solitary sex so far.But did get a promise for next week from a guy that I've been in love with since I was in kindergarten. He is about 6yrs older than me half black and absolutely gorgeous,High school football star and I finally seduced him about 10 years ago and have been enjoying his company whenever he gets tired of the old ball and chain and her demands and rules. But thats a whole different story and topic line. thanks and Huggs to you all. Love Ricky

| Update, Number 1 |
Jul 24, 2008 9:34 pm Mood: excited, 1299 Views | | Well today was my one week visit to the Dr. Since surgery I have lost 16lbs and he says that I am doing great.I have been getting around all of my shakes and fulfilling my H20 requirements.Still no hunger, and only the occasional bout of heartburn,I have had some cream type soup(low sodium, bland)but its hot and feels good going thru.He wants me to still be careful lifting and stuff,so walking is ok but no strenuous type exercises for another 3-4 weeks,if I can't lift it with one hand it is to much.So all of you big bois will just have to wait a bit.He warned me today about not using alcohol for a while as it can cause this pouch to convulse and that could tear out some sutures that are in and around the band.So no partying for me this weekend at our annual Settlers Days picnic, parade and festivities. But have gotten an invite to meet a couple of the fellas from here in OP land that are coming thru Spokane for lunch and think I will do that.(I can have a pine float)Well guys, the journey has begun, thanks again to all of you. | Back amongst the Living. |
Jul 20, 2008 11:48 am Mood: optimistic, 1796 Views | Well, this is the third day since the surgery and I finally feel as if I may just make it.Finally got some sleep last nite and have not had to take anything for the heartburn yet today. From the moment I woke up in the recovery room I was in misery from the damn heartburn pushing against my diaphram and heart,I could'nt find any relief but just kept belching away.On the way home from the hospital we stopped to get prescriptions and got some infant drops that helped along with rolaids to give me some relief.I got to have my first shower this morning and it felt good to let the hot water massager work on my back and neck.I have not had one hunger pain yet.The dr wants me to drink at least 64oz's of water per day, that includes my protein shakes,6 of those a day.Yesterday I had 2 and one so far today,I'm kinda introducing them slowly as I'm afraid of the gas coming back.I guess that when they do abdominal surgery they inflate you with carbon dioxide gas to make it easier to work on you and that has to work itself out of your system, that added to the pain as it migrates up into your shoulders and neck. There are 5 small incisions where they went in to do the work, not even any stitches just steri strips. So I've been drinking watered down fruit juices and water, little sips,I took my pills this morning,1 at a time, when I'm used to throwing the whole lot back in one gulp,Its funny,I can feel the liquid and stuff leaving the pouch, reminds me of when you pull a drain plug,I can imagine it swirling around down and out. I want to thank you all again for all the support and words of encouragement, now we'll see how fast this stuff goes away,I'll be able to start exercising again in a couple more days. So there's the scoop,Sorry it took me so long to get on here with an update, but today is really the first time I have felt able to.. Luv and Huggs To you all. Ricky
