Corrupt politics, HAHA Canada beats America!

Canadians have once again beaten the pants of Americans, this time in how corrupt our political parties can get. The news item below gives the details. Read it an weep Yanks! After you've dried yer tears have a good laugh considering the liberal opposition in Canada has as a primary election strategy the plan to raise taxes. They call the tax raising plan revenue neutral. I've picked a pic of a loon for this post as it's the laugh of the loon I hear when a politician tries explaining to me a new tax isn't really raising taxes.

So, meaning to really rub it in... Oh you poor poor Americans... how does it feel, when it comes to corrupt politics, to end up second bested by the mighty beaver to the north?!

Tory fundraising message contradicts government line
THE CANADIAN PRESS

OTTAWA - The Conservative Party of Canada is imploring supporters to make urgent cash donations because it worries the Liberals will force an election before summer.

There's just one problem.

It seems the party's fundraisers haven't been talking to the Conservative government, which has spent the spring baiting and belittling Liberal Leader Stephane Dion - for failing to force an election before summer.

Rob Anders, a Calgary Tory MP, was at it again Tuesday, rising before question period to taunt three Liberal MPs elected in March 17 byelections for failing to vote down Stephen Harper's minority.

"Last night, these three Liberal MPs abstained on a matter of confidence on the economy," said Anders. "Even though they were elected just weeks ago, already they are refusing to do their jobs to stand and vote."

Memo to Anders: read your party fundraising literature.

"I'm writing you today because we believe there's a high probability that Stephane Dion and the Liberal party will force an election before Parliament recesses for the summer," Irving Gerstein, chair of the Conservative Fund of Canada, wrote in a pitch that went out to party faithful last week.

"Your support is crucial to being prepared, which is why I'm writing to you today with an urgent appeal for your help."

The Conservative fundraising machine is becoming legendary in federal politics, blowing its competition out of the water.

The latest report from Elections Canada was typical. The Conservatives raised $4.95 million in the first quarter of this year - five times more than the Liberals.

Yet the Tory fundraising letter breathlessly urges more must be done.

"We must: match Liberal advertising budget dollar for dollar," admonishes the pitch.

"P.S. - We are in campaign readiness status right now. There could be an election very soon. Please act now . . . "

LOL - While I do enjoy the irony of the article you have shown, I'm at a loss to see how it confirms Canadian politics are more corrupt than the U.S.

XOXO

Hi Jack,

YOU are a typical modest Cannuk. Here's a chance to brag we've hands down beat the yanks and you hesitate. Well not me... not this time! We've kicked their butts. Canadian Prime Minister Harper has beaten President Bush. God bless America but when it comes to weasles the ones up north here are ten feet tall (with their paws in our pockets)!

jobro,

it does seem America is turning a bit left while in Canada a bunch of con artists are trying to force a hard right swing. Still though, I'm not going to let you distract us with talk of libraries when the subject is Canada beating the pants off America. We're doing it and it looks like we'll keep doing it and all you yanks and Texans too are just going to have to get used to being second best.
