Movies

Last weekend we went to see Star Trek Beyond.

The Star Trek series has produced some great shows and movies along the way. Here is where I ask you. IF We were to compile a list; what are some of the greatest movies that you have ever seen?

My OLD Friend BiBBsie might toss in The Sheik of Araby with her hero Rudy Valentino, however, we will stick to the talkies era.

Titanic jumps into my mind right away.

or Gone With The Wind.

How about everyone's favorite The Wizard of Oz! Everyone has the lines memorized to it by now.

Speaking of lines memorized... Casablanca also gets mentioned here too.

From growing up Ice Age is high on my list.

There's cult classics that everyone enjoys like Fright Night.

And the seasonal classics shown year after year such as It's a Wonderful Life . What are some of your favorite movies that need to be added to the list?

I'd have to agree with Jack about "On Golden Pond".

I've only seen parts of it and I don't think it's in our collection. But I will check it out.

2 of my favorites are Dirty Dancing & Pretty Woman. And we can't forget any Hitchcock movie.
And to Jack, a line from your favorite movie, "you old poop". I think that was in there.....
Yes a couple of goodies and Hitchcock is always a pleaser.

Gone with the Wind was probably the most spectacular; but I've enjoyed most of the movies mentioned.

BiBz... why your comments don't show up right away is most distressing at times! Sorry about The Sheik but the others are excellent choices.

If you want to go classic:

    Citizen Kane
    Seven Samurai
    the Maltese Falcon
    North By Northwest
    Rear Window
    La règle du jeu

    A little more recent:

    Dune
    Gettysburg
    Blade Runner
Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind
Ran (Japanese movie from Akira Kurasowa)
    Eat Drink Man Woman

And I do like the new Star Trek movies, but have not seen the new one yet.
That's quite a list ya have there and we've seen most of them. There should almost be a required viewing movie list with those on it.

Of the list under my "classics", they were required for a class I took in College on the "Development of the Motion Picture". One I forgot was D.W. Griffith's "Broken Blossom". The first full length motion picture released. Also watched Federico Fellini's "8-1/2".
Just maybe we need to put together a MUST VIEW list along with the WHY we should view them.

I'm a bit surprised that no one has yet mentioned Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
The classic glass house and car out the back.... no one should miss!
