The STAR

Jews throughout Nazi-occupied Europe were forced to wear a badge in the form of a Yellow Star as a means of identification. This was not a new idea; since medieval times many other societies had forced their Jewish citizens to wear badges to identify themselves.

The badges were often printed on coarse yellow cloth and were a garish yellow color. The star, which represented the star of David, was outlined in thick, black lines and the word 'Jew' was printed in mock-Hebraic type. In some ghettos, even babies in prams had to wear the armbands or stars. Jewish shops were also marked with a Yellow Star.

The star was intended to humiliate Jews and to mark them out for segregation and discrimination. The policy also made it easier to identify Jews for deportation to camps.

Recently, anti-trans legislation restricting bathroom use has been shaking up states such as North Carolina and Mississippi. Transgender students across the country have been fighting for years to use the bathrooms of their choice at school. Another transgender student is suing for the right to use the restroom of their choice at school, but this time, according to a lawsuit filed this week, a Wisconsin school is going so far as to propose transgender students wear green wristbands to better restrict bathroom use.

Ash Whitaker, a 16-year-old transgender boy in Kenosha, Wisconsin, is suing school officials at Kenosha Unified School District for allegedly planning to make him and other transgender students wear the bright green identification wristband. Whitaker's lawyers claim in the lawsuit that school officials are in violation of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. The lawsuit states that school officials must treat Whitaker and all transgender students as their preferred gender identities and stop any discrimination against transgender students.

"Branding transgender students in this way would single them out for additional scrutiny, stigma, and potentially harassment or violence, and violate their privacy by revealing their transgender status to others," the lawsuit, filed in federal court, states

I personally don't see 2 cents worth of difference between having to wear a yellow 6 pointed star or an acid green wristband. This form of Government sponsored discrimination will NOT be condoned or tolerated for even an instant. A second possibility also exists to "Fuck up the school board" In good old Denmark many Danes who were not Jewish wore the stars to screw over the German occupiers. Students could purchase a whole box of green wristbands and sell them with the proceeds going towards a charity.... flood the whole district with them rendering the wearing of the bands indistinguishable from other students and parents.

well its posted now bret, and i agree 100%, and the first thing that came to mind was as you mentioned. if such stupidity is enforced by these school officials then having all the students put one on in support would send a clear message and hopefully bring them to their senses!

We are almost fighting a war with ignorance and stupidity.

I don't think it will ever stop. there is so much description and hate still in this world
Maybe not in our life times but when you look back to the changes since the 1940's and 1950's we are leaps and bounds ahead.

You are absolutely correct. All those career Washington insiders have to go! This election is way to important to let those freeloaders who have been bought off with OUR OWN TAX Dollars screw us any more. Crooked Hillary and her chums need to be tossed in jail where they belong.

Yes, it is the ultra conservative right ( mostly republicans ) that have appointed themselves to save us from the evils of people who are not straight; or other things that they do not agree with. More right wing politicians in power will not improve that. Electing good non bigoted people regardless of their party is the only way to blunt bigots. By the way, I myself, am fiscally and socially very Conservative; but I am not bigoted towards anyone; except maybe the liberals in my country..

Let's leave the Republican out of that phrase and get it corrected .. Christian AND Islamic Fundamentalists ..Politics has nothing to do with it except many have joined political parties as a means of furthering their radical goals. Here we have removed may of those "flat earth-- 6 days" bozos from our political mainstream. Our government has no place in our bedrooms or our restrooms.
