Unlike Flint Michigan We are not setting out on the porch waiting for the government to come save us. President Obama has not bothered to call us back nor has the governor come by with a bag full of money. Last night after I got home our well took a crap on us...... we don't have water! I have not contacted our congressional office to bail us out yet but it's on my agenda. We have water but it is fouled and unfit to drink or bath... but it's ok for the livestock. What has happened is a valve "froze up" and is not shutting to prevent the water from back flushing into the well again from the pressure tank. This is a bit beyond our expertise. Sooo if we need water we have to manually turn on the well pump .. get what we want ... then turn it off or the 212 volt pump just keeps running wasting electricity. I contacted the well company but they can't get to us for a few days Gosh and Golly WE will have to pay for it... NOT the GUBBERMENT! |

The Obama check for your problem is in the mail. Should get there any decade with the efficiency of the government post office. GOOD LUCK

Sorry to hear of your pump issues. Keep that bag of $$ handy! I had something similar happen a few years ago about a week before Christmas. A part had broken on the pump itself, & it just kept running & running. The pump was still warm when they pulled it up from the well. Cost me a few dollars shy of a thousand bucks. To top that off, they'd forgotten to put the gasket back on when putting the cap back on. Early that spring after several heavy down-pours, all of my faucets kept getting plugged up with mulch. Luckily, my brother-in-law & sister were up visiting from out of state & he was able to figure out what the problem was. He's the type that can fix anything. All my faucets had to be taken out & cleaned, then put back back in. The guts of both toilets had to be taken apart & cleaned also. He saved me mass amounts of $$. My well is in a raised flower bed. I cut the bottom out of a 5 gallon bucket, dug around the well deep enough to put bucket just above soil surface & filled it with gravel. Things have been fine since. I had issues once with my holding tank, that was interesting too. Pump kept going on & off, on & off, causing sand to get sucked up with the water. Was a problem with the bladder in the holding tank, luckily, it was still under warranty. Good luck to you!

Some of us just don't go crying to the gubberment expecting them to solve every problem that arises.

Yes, I've had well problems too when I lived on a farm. Depending on the depth of the well, repairs to the pump can be pricey. I had one well that kept sending sand into the house and wrecking the faucets, dishwasher and wash machine. I had to install a centrifugal sand separator in the line before it got to the house. It had to be special ordered from California, cost a fortune, and required flushing on a daily basis. Fortunately, I am pretty handy and can diagnose and repair most problems.

The sand point "thingie" will work on a shallow well where the pump is at the surface. This sand problem was on a deep well with a submersible pump down 125'. At the AZ farm, the pump was down 475', but there was no problem with sand in the water there. Good luck with your well repairs. It is awful to be without good water. I hope you are obeying the Dr and not lifting anything heavier than your cock, like Richard so aptly pointed out.

If you notice your nuts hanging 3-4 inches lower than normal, that MIGHT be where the lead is....
