Brrrrrrrr!

What happened to "Global Warming" We've had to use the fireplace to ward off the chill here for a couple days now.

Des Moines was record-breaking cool Friday, and meteorologists say the below-normal temperatures will continue into next week.

The high temperature only reached 54 degrees in Des Moines on Friday. This was 24 degrees below the normal high for Sept. 12.

And it was the lowest maximum temperature ever recorded in Des Moines on Sept. 12. The previous record of 55 degrees was set in 1989, according to the National Weather Service in Johnston.

Meteorologists expect temperatures to reach near-record-low temperatures in the 30s Friday night.

The National Weather Service issued a frost advisory for about half of the state from 3 to 8 a.m. Saturday.

The normal low temperatures for this time of year are in the mid-50s in Iowa. The record low in Des Moines is 33 degrees; the forecast low for tonight is 37.

Iowa will warm a bit on Sunday, with highs reaching into the 60s and lows dipping into the 40s.

Temperatures are expected to remain below normal into early next week. Wednesday will be the first day next week with the expected high reaching into the 70s in Des Moines

Todays special is Beef Stew and home made bread!

The term of global warming refers to the **Average** temperature. But due to the complexity in the atmosphere the colds get colder (aka you) the hots get hotter, the rains get heavier and longer ( aka India and Pakistan),and the droughts get longer and drier (aka California). As the average goes up this wild weather will get more pronounced and stronger. One of the possible computer models of the eventual outcome of global warming; actually is a new Ice Age. I am not an expert on this; I am summarizing the information that I have read and or seen in documentaries.
Please do not take me for one of those environmentalists; I consider most of them part of the problem (especially AL Gore) preventing solutions

My soap box speech!

The planet has undergone many changes. I just don't see us making as big an impact as many would like us to think. Kinda like the flea on the elephant
