You Rang?

For those that love the ADDAM'S FAMILY today is LURCH's Birthday!

Theodore Crawford "Ted" Cassidy (July 31, 1932 – January 16, 1979)

an American actor who performed in television and films, noted for his tall stature, is perhaps best known for the role of Lurch, the butler on the 1960s television series The Addams Family.

He tended to play unusual characters in offbeat or science-fiction series such as Star Trek and I Dream of Jeannie.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Cassidy was raised in Philippi, West Virginia. An academically gifted individual, Cassidy began the third grade at the age of six, and by the time he was eleven, he began high school. At high school, Cassidy was on his high school basketball and football team. He was a target of bullying and harassment from his much older peers, who ridiculed him for his tall stature. In 1952 Ted became a member of the Ormond Beach, Florida Life Saving Corps and worked as a lifeguard in the Ormond/Daytona Beach area.

We lost Cassidy on January 16, 1979, at age 46 from complications following open-heart surgery. Fellow actor Sandra Martinez took care of him during his final years. Cassidy's remains were cremated, and later buried in the backyard of his Woodland Hills home. The exact location of his remains is unknown. Thank you Ted for so many smiles over the years.

It was Ted's hand that played "thing" unless Lurch had a scene with thing then it was a stage hand's hand
